Your gift is so important to the children

who visit the Museum!

The educational aspects of "playing to learn and learning to play" are invaluable to all of us at any age. We appreciate any support you could give GCM to help our Museum be a place for all people in this community to come to play, learn, discover and grow.

Admission fees only defray half of the actual cost of Museum visits and programs. As a private, non-profit organization, we rely on generous gifts of our friends, local businesses and foundations to make up the balance.

Your gift will help us provide:

  • Free Museum admission & memberships to low-income children and their families
  • Scholarships for summer camps & special programs to low-income families
  • Unique community events and outreach activities
  • Books, costumes, puppets, paint, paper and other tools of the imagination
  • Talented, well-trained employees, responsible for updating, maintaining and planning new exhibits, and programs

The annual budget is approximately $1 million.  Fifty-two percent (56%) of the income comes from admissions, memberships, programs and facility rentals.  The remaining 44% comes from contributed income from individuals, businesses, foundations and special events.

Your generosity will help insure the Museum will continue to be a place for families to come and be together for many more years!  You can make donations to the Museum online, in person, over the phone or through the mail.  If you have questions, please contact Suzanne Fulcher, Director of Development, at 336-574-2898 x303 or sfulcher@gcmuseum.com. The mailing address of the Museum is 220 North Church Street, Greensboro, NC, 27401.

There are so many ways to support the Museum. Check the following to see what way may suit you best:

Annual Fund

Our Annual Fund Drive runs from September through December each year. Individual donations are vital to support our programs and exhibits.

Exhibits

Permanent exhibits also require enhancements and periodic maintenance. Is there one area that your favorite young person can never be pulled away from? We would love your help to ensure that all exhibits are the best that they can be to ensure a top notch educational experience!

Programs

GCM is committed to offering every child a quality educational experience that will help them grow and build critical foundational skills.  A particularly popular educational program is Explore-a-Tours that offer school children unique learning experiences focused on wellness, science, and social sciences and are based on the NC Standard Course of Study. For a list of programs that you may sponsor contact Suzanne Fulcher, Director of Development 336 574-2898 ext 303 or email sfulcher@gcmuseum.com.

Scholarships

Scholarships are a year round gift, we want to give every child a way to experience the Museum.

Fundraising Events

Fundraising Events occur several times a year, usually spring and fall. Typically sponsorships are available at most any level. Various recognition and ticket reservations occur based on the level of the sponsorship gift. We have two fundraising events for the Museum:  Novelist, John Hart Dinner Gala on October 1st and our Make Believe Ball on October 20th.  For more information on supporting and/or becoming a sponsoring of the John Hart Dinner Gala, please contact Melanie Soles, GCM Board of Trustees Chair at 336-273-8140 or melaniesoles@aol.com.  For more information on how to support or be a sponsor of the Make Believe Ball, please contact Betsy Grant, Director, at 336-574-2898 x301 or bgrant@gcmuseum.com.
