General Information
The Greensboro Children’s Museum offers morning and afternoon,
half-day, summer enrichment camps for ages 4-10 taught by teachers in the community! A wide variety of camps are offered each week from June 23rd through August 15th and include a variety of fun themes such as dance, martial arts, cooking, gardening, music, science, world cultures and art! Kitchen Chemistry, Purrrrr-fect Pets, Big Bang Boom Rock-n-Roll Camp, Endangered Animals, Diggin the Outdoors, and Dance Xplosion are just some of our awesome camps sure to create some great
memories for your children!
Want your child to stay longer at a camp or would you like for your child to be in a morning and afternoon camp? Take advantage of our Lunch & Play Option available from 12-1pm! During Lunch & Play, children can use the extra time to eat lunch (not provided) and play in the museum.

HOURS
The Greensboro Children’s Museum offers half-day summer camps both in the morning (9am-12pm) and in the afternoon (1-4pm) for children ages 4-10 years.
Drops offs: Morning camp drop-off begins at 8:45am. Afternoon camp drop-off begins at 12:45pm. Every parent or guardian is required to sign in and sign out their child daily with their camp leader. Children may not enter or exit the building without a parent or guardian.
Late Fee Policy: Camps end at 12:00 pm for morning camps and 4:00 pm for afternoon camps. There will be a $10.00 late fee for the first 10 minutes and $1.00 for each additional minute thereafter.
Lunch & Play Option: Want your child to stay longer? Is your child in a morning and afternoon camp? Take advantage of our Lunch & Play Option available from 12-1pm! Children must bring a bag lunch (no refrigeration available - so please pack accordingly). Same late fee policy applies if you are picking your child up at 1:00 pm.
ATTIRE
Please send your child in clothing that is comfortable for indoor and outdoor, hands-on, messy activities. Closed shoes with socks are preferred - absolutely no flip flops (for safety reasons!). Please send a labeled bag with an extra set of clothing for your child - just in case!
All GCM campers will receive a FREE Camp T-Shirt.
FOOD
GCM will provide one snack and beverage for each camp. Please indicate any food allergies on the registration form. Campers staying for Lunch & Play Option must bring their own bag lunch (no refrigeration available).

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of half of your camp total will be submitted upon registration. The balance is to be paid no later than one week prior to the camp start date.

Track 1: 4 Year Olds
#1. Endangered Animals 9am-12pm, June 23-27
In celebration of animals in need of our tender care, campers can bring their favorite animals to life through creative play and movement in this camp. Children can get their panda paws messy with arts & crafts, prepare and eat yummy snacks like tiger pudding, enjoy pictures in stories and even go on treasure hunts through a make-believe jungle!
#2. Ready, Set, Read!
1-4pm, July 7-11
In this entertaining and interactive reading camp, we’ll enter the world of Eric Carle, beloved children’s author, through a week of animals, sights, sounds, and colors. Each day, we’ll bring a different one of his books to life by crafting, creating, concocting and cooking!
#3. Shiver me Timbers! 9am-12pm, July 14-18
Yo, ho, ho – has your child ever dreamed of being a pirate? If so, then Shiver Me Timbers is the camp for them! We’ll learn how to dress, talk, sing, and eat like a pirate. With our handy maps, we’ll even search for hidden treasures. So, aaarrghhh mates – don’t miss this fun camp!
#4. Pattern Palooza!
1-4pm, July 14-18
Patterns are found in so many things. We’ll play detectives this week as we play and manipulate patterns in music, dance, art and objects all around us. We’ll make a percussion band, sing songs in rounds and play with rainbows!
#5. All Monsters Aren’t Scary 9am-12pm, July 21-25
You don’t have to be scared of the monster hiding in your closet or underneath your bed - not all monsters are scary! We’ll celebrate these snaggle-toothed, three-headed, big-footed creatures all week with fun stories that we’ll re-enact through puppets shows, making monster masks, singing silly monster songs and dancing the Monster Mash.
#6. Kitchen Chemistry
9am-12pm, July 28-August 1
Kids get to put on goofy lab goggles in this camp as they perform wacky and fun experiments. We’ll make some ooey-gooey materials out of food and household products, like slime and magic bubble solution. We’ll also perform experiments with cabbage juice and make glue from milk that we’ll use for our project. You’ll be glad the kids won’t be trying these experiments at home!
#7. Down in the Deep Blue Sea 1-4pm, July 28-August 1
In this awesome under the sea adventure camp, kids will explore the deep blue sea with famous books, art and puppet stories. Kids can use their fins to create arts and crafts projects like designing their own seascape t-shirt. We’ll play octopus tag, sing songs that will be sure to make waves, and eat yummy sea snacks!
#8. Planet Puppet 9am-12pm, August 4-8
Kids get to travel around the world by exploring international folktales through puppetry and creative drama in this camp. They will bring characters to life with their bodies and voices and learn about people and cultures from across the globe. Kids will use their imaginations to make puppets, be a puppeteer, decorate a puppet theater and work together to put on a puppet show for parents the last day!
#9. Awesome Arts 1-4pm, August 11-15
Crayons, clay, Mozart, Monet - combine together and play! Find out how we use both music and art to express ourselves. Children will get to use their imaginations and creativity to tell stories set to music and construct art projects. And at the end of the week, campers will share a special performance based on a story all the children help write.

#10. Up Down All Around
9am-12pm, June 23-27
Kids get to move their bodies all around this week as we use dance to gain body awareness, enhance our creativity, and just have fun! We will explore movement by manipulating space, changing rhythms and music styles and even trying to become a certain feeling. Kids will learn a show-stopping choreographed piece to perform for parents at the end of the camp.
#11. I Spy Science
1-4pm, June 23-27
We’ll show kids how raisins can dance and milk can explode in this super, science camp. We’ll make fascinating discoveries through exciting experiments, magic mixing, and even tempting taste-tests. Kids, put on your lab coats and goggles as we discover just how splendid science can be!
#12. Diggin the Outdoors
9am-12pm, July 7-11
Can you dig it? Kids will plant and care for a small flower garden, explore a big heap of dirt, discover creepy crawlies living in this environment, and create beautiful garden art this week as we enjoy nature at its best. This camp keeps on giving because throughout the summer kids will be able to re-visit their garden and see how it grows!
#13. Around the World Art Camp
1-4pm, July 7-11
Did you know that in Africa, people tell stories using bright cloth pictures made of felt? In this camp, we’ll make our own stories and other artwork as campers experience the cultures and people of the world through various art mediums. Scheduled stops include Africa, Japan, Italy, and Egypt. Kids, grab your passports and jump on board for this awesome, art-filled journey!
#14. Little Amigos
1-4pm, July 14-18
Does your kid enjoy singing? Eating? Making arts and crafts? Well, this camp spices it up and does it in Spanish! Kids will sing songs, make a scrapbook of their family, create animal puppets, play games and even make some yummy concoctions all with a Spanish flare!
#15. Kitchen Chemistry

#16. Well-Rounded Rugrats
1-4pm, July 21-25
What do gardening, making healthy snacks, exercise, and laughter all have in common? They’re all good for you! This camp celebrates the things that make us happy and healthy. We’ll bring stories to life by becoming the animals and characters in them, plant flowers, make nutritious snacks, create art journals, play games, and act out silly jokes and stories.
#17. Sky High
1-4pm, July 21-25
It’s a bird! A plane! It’s science in the sky! In this camp, we’ll discover the tricks to making a paper airplane fly longer and higher, construct a bird habitat, make sunshine silhouettes and sundials and even make our own solar-cooked foods! This camp puts new meaning to fun in the sun!
#18. Around the World and Back
9am-12pm, July 28-August 1
Who knew you could travel around the world in one week? Children will learn the similarities and differences of Hispanic, African, Japanese, Native American, and our own American traditions and customs. Children will have a blast as they take off around the world enjoying activities such as art, music, dance, folk tales, artifacts, food, and children’s literature.
#19. Purrrrrr-fect Pets 1-4pm, July 28-August 1
Your kids don’t even have to have a pet to enjoy this week of perfectly pleasing pets! We’ll learn what it’s like to love and care for our pet pals through visits from local adoption agencies, veterinarians, and even from our fine, furry-friends themselves! Kids get to enjoy stories, create pet puppets and other pet-friendly activities. We’ll end the week with a playful pet show— a “purrrrr-fect” finale for this camp!

#21. Dance Xplosion
1-4pm, August 4-8
Do you know the expression “to cut a rug”? Kids will sure know it by the end of this camp! Campers, get those dancing shoes on as we explore the techniques of ballet, jazz, hip-hop, African, and modern dance. Through both individual and group dances, kids will begin to understand how movement can transform their bodies to become shapes, animals, and even feelings!

#23. Stranger Danger 9am-12pm, August 11-15
Master Hendrix’ Essential Martial Arts has designed this camp to help children understand how to be safe in their surroundings. . Children will learn the common personality types of dangerous strangers, strategies to defend themselves and escape (if necessary) with role playing on what to say to a stranger, appropriate physical responses, and how to report a problem. Calisthenics as well as coordination based games to increase self-esteem will also be important elements in this educational and unique camp.
#24. Young Entrepreneurs 9am-12pm, August 11-15
Have your kids ever wanted to run their own lemonade stand? Well, this camp takes the lemonade stand to another level! Kids will learn basic business skills, increase their financial literacy, and produce different products everyday. We’ll end the week with a Young Entrepreneur's Expo, where all of your child’s products will be displayed and they will have the opportunity to play both roles: the entrepreneur and the customer!

Track 3: 7-10 Year Olds
#25. Kitchen Chemistry 9am-12pm, June 23-27

#26. Summer Time Move and Grove
1-4pm, June 23-27
Do your kids love to bust a move on the dance floor? If yes, this is the perfect camp for them! Campers can dance the day away with ballet, modern, jazz, and musical theater classes. Campers will experience all angles of dance with technical work, choreography and performing!
#27. Just Kickin’ It
9am-12pm, July 7-11
Master Hendrix’ Essential Martial Arts has designed a camp to learn important martial arts skills. Martial arts fundamentals like solo exercises known as Kata or Tul, calisthenics, coordination based movement, the importance of focus, and teamwork are all important components covered this week. Campers will also learn how to deflect common strikes and break free from basic holds and grabs.
#28. Camp Construct
9am-12pm, July 7-11
Does your child love to tinker with tools, take things apart, or love to find out just how things work? If so, Camp Construct is the camp for them! We will use everyday gizmos, gadgets, and goop to build bridges, create cars, and even engineer our very own inventions. Their imaginations are the only limits in this exciting camp!
#29. Big Bang Boom Rock Star Camp! 9am-12pm, July 14-18
Join Chuck Folds & Steve Willard from Big Bang Boom for a week of rockin’ fun! Campers will form a band, create posters & back-stage passes, set up equipment, design their own “air guitars” and even help write a song as we live the life of a rock band. This wild week of rock will end with the campers performing as the opening act for a Big Bang Boom concert!
#31. Cookin up a Culture
1-4pm July 14-18
This camp is the secret ingredient to summer fun! With a real chef as the teacher, kids can’t go wrong with all the different flavors and foods they will prepare. And our special chef takes it up a notch and adds in amazing ways to learn about different cultures and customs. Kids can taste-test foods from all over the world as we cook up cultures in the kitchen!
#32. Sew What?
9am-12pm, July 21-25
Kids become designers this week as they make their own amazing creations. Campers will be designing, measuring, cutting, sewing (both by hand and on the sewing machine!), and knitting! At the end of camp, kids will have a knitted scarf, fleece hat, and throw pillow to take home with them.
#33. Big Bang Boom Rock Star Camp!
9am-12pm, July 28-August 1
Join Chuck Folds & Steve Willard from Big Bang Boom for a week of rockin’ fun! We’ll form a band, create posters & back-stage passes, set up equipment, design our own “air guitars” and even help write a song as we live the life of a rock band. This wild week of rock will end with the campers performing as the opening act for a Big Bang Boom concert!
#34. Young Entrepreneurs
1-4pm, August 11-15
Have your kids ever wanted to run their own lemonade stand? Well, this camp takes the lemonade stand to another level! Kids will learn basic business skills, increase their financial literacy, and produce different products everyday. We’ll end the week with a Young Entrepreneur's Expo, where all of your child’s products will be displayed and they will have the opportunity to play both roles: the entrepreneur and the customer!
