GCM Weekly July Programs
Bee Boppin Busy Bees Mondays
Mondays, 11–11:30am, Weekly program
Buzz on out Busy Bees because its time to move and groove! Meet us in the theatre for snazzy songs, magical movements, and boppin’ beats. Free with admission or membership.
Tuesday Tunes
Tuesdays, 3-3:30pm, Tunes and Tales
5:30-6pm, Big Bang Boom Concert in our Backyard!
Join us this summer for stories and sing a-longs during the day from 3-3:30pm with Museum staff, then again at 5:30pm with the popular kid’s band, Big Bang Boom! While the concert starts at 5:30pm, we invite everyone to come down from 5-7pm for a fun time and yummy food! We'll have hotdogs, Domino's pizza and ice cream for sale and kids will have full access to play in the museum before and after the concert! Activities free with admission/membership.
Workout Wednesdays
We have lots of fun "move and groove" activities planned on Wednesdays for kids to be active in and burn off tons of energy. Join us at 10am for Wee Little Kids on the Ball (ages 3-5), at 10:30am for Kids on the Ball (ages 6-10) and at 3:30pm for Twisty Tales Story Time. Programs filled on a first come first serve basis. Call to pre-register if you want! Free with admission or membership.
Art Connects Thursdays
Thursdays, 10:30-11:30 am
Join us every Thursday with Ms. Ruth our amazing Art Director for fun-filled art activities in Creation Station. She will have a variety of arts and crafts activities available for children including painting, drawing, making sculptures and creating pictures. All crafts use recycled materials because we like to be kind to the earth! Programs are free with admission and/or membership. Spaces are limited for some programs. Fantabulous Fridays
Fridays, 10:30am and 3:00pm
You never know what you are going to do with Miss M & M! Meet her at the clock tower for a fantastically fun adventure. The fun is in the surprise adventure! Free with admission or membership.
Family Fun Friday Nights
Fridays, 5-8pm
Families can enjoy all the fun activities and exhibits at the Museum on Fridays for only $3 a person! Every Friday, we offer reduced admission prices and stay open until 8pm. So kick off your weekend by having some fun at GCM!
Special July Programs
Patriotic Trike & Wagon Parade and Popsicle Party
Tuesday, July 1, 10am
We will provide the patriotic pizzazz! You come and bring your trike or wagon to decorate! After all of the decorating is done – we will parade down GCM’s Main Street to proudly celebrate the Fourth of July holiday. Our patriotic parade will end in the backyard with cool popsicle party! Free with admission or membership.
Ember’s Birthday Party
Thursday, July 3, 2pm
Join us as we celebrate Ember’s (the famous Dalmatian) birthday at the Museum! Ember will doing her usual fabulous tricks and will be available for hugs and pictures! Come and sing Happy Birthday to Ember! Free with admission or membership.
African Drumming and Dance Performance
Friday, July 11, 6pm
Children and families will enjoy this entertaining show of African drums, dance and music by the NC Dance Project! This performance will surely get your feet moving and put a smile on your face! Free with admission or membership.
Flame & Ember’s Summer Safety Show
Thursday, July 17,11am
Flame & Ember (the Firefighting Clown and Dalmatian) make a special visit to GCM to put on a puppet show about summer safety. Kids can learn how to be safe while doing all of their fun summer activities! Free with admission or membership.
Weekend Move & Groove with Duncan
Friday, July 18, 5:30-6:30pm
Saturday, July 19, 10am-11am
Join us in the Theater as we move and groove to the fun sounds of Duncan! Kids and parents will have a great time singing and dancing along to his fun songs. Free with admission or membership.
Visiting Artists Series in Creation Station
Saturday, July 19, 11am-2pm
NC artists will visit GCM to share and create with children different mediums of art. Free with admission or membership.
4th Friday Cultural Night:
Friday, July 25th, 5-8pm
GCM will explore all the different aspects of cultures from around the globe. You will experience the languages, foods, activities, costumes, dance, and other customs of various countries or cultures from around the world. Free with admission or membership
