GCM Playgroup

Connect with other parents and caregivers of young children (Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers) at the Greensboro Children’s Museum each week for a standing playdate!  Meet a Museum educator for a kick-off activity and then go exploring, playing, and learning in the Museum together.  GCM Playgroup meets every Thursday at 3:30pm from September through May.

Using ingredients from our fall garden, we'll take a popular fast food meal combination and create a more nutritious version using a seasonal approach.
On the menu: veggie sliders, crispy curly fries, & pumpkin milkshakes

Kids Class: Spooky Snacks

Date: Tuesday, October 11, 2016, 3:30-4:45PM
Ages: 6-8 years
Cost: Members $12- Non-members $15
Join us for this special garden-to-table, seasonal cooking class. We'll harvest ingredients from the garden to make monstrously green smoothies and spooktacular spider deviled eggs.

Mini Yogis Class (3-5 yrs)

Dates:Tuesday,October 4, 2016-Tuesday November 8, 2016, 3:30-4:30
Cost: Members $60 Non-Members $72 Pre-Registration Required

Creative and fun, these classes plant the seeds of yoga to stimulate imagination, maintain flexibility and develop conscious breathing. Our unique approach combines yoga poses with rhythm, literacy, games and mindfulness techniques. Drop-off program recommended for ages 3-5 years. Guest Instructor: Katie Page Tuesdays at 3:30pm: Oct 4, Oct 11, Oct. 18, Oct 25, Nov 1, Nov 8. Class fee includes admission to the Greensboro Children’s Museum for the participant and one adult on the day of the class.

Tiny Tots Yoga Class (12-24 months)

Wren’s Nest Yoga at GCM This 45-minute class is designed for caregivers and their young toddlers. Our time together is a fun mix of yoga and play for your little one. Get ready for the holidays and learn to make your very own pies. We'll start with a basic pie dough and a seasonal fruit filling, then experiment with decorating techniques. Each person will leave with an unbaked pie and instructions for baking at home.

 

Family Class: At the Kids Table

Ages: 5+ with caregiver

Work alongside your little one and learn how to work together to make family-friendly sides. We'll also create a table decoration to take home for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
On the menu: mashed sweet potato with maple syrup, fall fruit salad, & crispy kale chips

 

Kids Class: Making Stone Soup

We'll read the tale of Stone Soup, harvest ingredients from the garden, and prepare our own version of Stone Soup to eat together.

Cookies with Ms. Claus

Join us for an annual favorite! We will decorate homemade cookies, enjoy stories with Ms. Claus, and create holiday crafts with the North Pole Elves! Great for all ages! Parents and caregivers included in admission price.

 

 

Book & Cook (3 – 5 years)

Tuesdays at 3:30pm: Jan 10, Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31, Feb 7, Feb 14.
Drop-off program recommended for ages 3-5 years.
Cost: Members $60/6 classes, Non-members $72/6 classes
Instructor: Jennifer, Chef Teacher

Each week, we'll meet in The Edible Schoolyard Kitchen Classroom to combine children’s literature and food. Using the story as inspiration, your kids will use fresh ingredients to create kid-friendly snacks they'll love making and eating.

Class fee includes admission to the Greensboro Children’s Museum for the participant and one adult on the day of the class.
