This month we are slowing down to practice mindfulness, or an awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and bodies in the present moment.  Join us for garden meditations, art activities, and more to learn about being mindful.

Cajun Country Shrimp Boil

Join us for a Cajun Country Shrimp Boil with Jay Pierce, Executive Chef of The Marshall Free House. You will enjoy shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, garlic, and potatoes cooked in a big pot and served family-style to be eaten with the hands. Expect lots of conversation, hands-on opportunities, and tips and quips from Jay. He'll even whip up some snacks and lemon chess pie with a saltine cracker crust.

Bugs, Bees, & Butterflies-Summer Camp

Discover the magic of the flying and crawling little friends that help our garden grow. Learn to plant pollinator friendly plants, use honey from bees to prepare delicious snacks, and identify garden critters.

 

Adult Cooking Class: Preserving Summer: jam, chutney, & pickles

Thursday, July 14, 2016, 6-8pm
Cost: Members $30, Non-members $35 Pre-registration Required

Summer is overflowing with lovely, fresh fruits and vegetables. Learn how to preserve the harvest with jam, chutney, and pickles. We'll make a simple jam recipe through a hands-on canning tutorial and sample homemade chutney and pickles. Each participant will leave with a jar of jam and all recipes. 

On the menu: tomato jam, cucumber & apple chutney, pickled red onions    

 

 

Fairy Tales-Summer Camp

July 18 - July 22, 9am - 1pm
4 years – Rising K’s
Members $100, Non-members $110

Come on a magical journey that will take us to Wonderland, Oz, Neverland, and The Enchanted Forest.  Story times, crafts, and games will revolve around classic stories and characters.  Watch us take to the stage for our own fairy tale performance on the final day.

 

Puppet Camp-Summer Camp

August 8 - August 12, 9am - 3pm
Rising 1st – 2nd Grade
Members $150, Non-members $160

Bring your imagination to life with puppets!  Explore methods of creating puppets using a variety of media.  We will make up our own characters as well as work together to tell familiar stories.  Our week culminates in a theatrical production you will not want to miss. 

 

Wild Wild West-Summer Camp

August 15 - August 19, 9am - 1pm

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls! Trot on down to the GCM for a giddy-up good time! There will be rodeo games, country crafts, and campfire songs.  Join us on Friday for a special showcase.
