The STEAM movement in education promotes a focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and math.  Incorporating these subjects into play at GCM comes naturally!  Join us for a variety of STEAM-based activities this month, and learn about nanoscience with Nano, a traveling exhibit here through March 14, 2016!

Each week, we'll meet in The Edible Schoolyard Kitchen Classroom to combine literature and food. Using the story as inspiration, your kids will use fresh ingredients to create kid-friendly cuisine they'll love making and eating.

Adult Cooking Class: Down to the Bayou-SOLD OUT

Thursday, January 28th, 6-8pm

Let's go down to the Bayou with Chef Jay Pierce, of the Marshall Free House. Chef Jay will teach you to prepare dishes from his UNC Press cookbook, Shrimp, including ceviche and seafood gumbo. Participants will learn to make a roux and how to buy, peel, and cook shrimp. Admission price includes an autographed copy of Jay's book.

Cost $75 Non-members, $65 members

Drop-off class. Recommended ages: 6-8 years
Celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday in The Edible Schoolyard kitchen. We'll read Green Eggs and Ham, then cook and taste our special green eggs recipe featuring plants and herbs from the garden.
