Little Sprouts Garden Series

Join us in the garden as winter turns to spring! In this hands-on preschool program, we will explore The Edible Schoolyard together, playing and learning all along the way. This garden series will focus on a different theme each week.
WHEN:  Starts April 19th for six weeks , Tuesdays, 3-4pm - REGISTRATION REQUIRED ONLINE
AGES: 3-5 years
GCM Members  -  $8 per class
Non-GCM Members  - $12 per class

April 19- Soil - We will get our hands dirty and explore the soil under our feet.

April 26- Seeds - This week, we will plant vegetable seeds in our very own garden bed.

May 3- Water - Join us as we explore the wonder of water in the garden.

May 10- Animals - We will meet all the barnyard friends this week – chickens, cats, bunny, and more.

 May 17- Flowers - Come and explore the beautiful blooms of the garden.

 May 24- Harvest - This week, we will harvest and taste garden treats.

 

 

The 4th Annual IncrEDIBLE Plant Sale

Join us to help support The Edible Schoolyard with a day full of food trucks, children's activities, and live music.  All are welcome!  The Edible Schoolyard includes a half-acre urban, teaching garden and kitchen classroom.  We offer hands-on experiences that focus on fresh, seasonal food, wellness, and outdoor play.  Part of the Greensboro Children’s Museum, The Edible Schoolyard Greensboro engages our community through field trips, summer camps, after-school programming community events, and cooking classes for kids ages 0-100. 

 

 

Free Comic Book Day

Saturday, May 7th, 10am 3pm

Comic books available beginning at 10 am until supplies last! Artists on site until 3:00 pm to draw free sketches. Museum admission is regular price.

 

Tiny Tots Yoga
Monday, May 9, 2016, 9:30-10:15am

Join Katie Page, Owner of Wren's Nest, at the Greensboro Children’s Museum for a FREE special introduction to Baby Yoga Playgroup! This 45-minute class is designed for tiny tots that are not quite ready for a toddler class and too mobile for a baby class. Our time together is a nice mix of yoga and play for your little one.

We provide a safe space for you and your tot to move, stretch, sing and play yoga!

Suggested age range for this class is 12m-18m (pre-toddler). Adult attire: Athletic/Yoga

After class, continue to play and explore in more than 30,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits at the Greensboro Children’s Museum on us!

Space is limited, registration required.

Join the Greensboro Symphony’s percussion ensemble for OrKIDStra, a FREE, interactive concert pairing literacy and musical expression for children! Narrator Logie Meachum will read Pete Seeger favorite, Abiyoyo, aloud while the Symphony’s percussion ensemble brings the story to life in between the pages! Length: 20 minutes

 

 

 

Bugs, Bees, & Butterflies-Summer Camp

June 6- June 10, 9am -1pm

Discover the magic of the flying and crawling little friends that help our garden grow. Learn to plant pollinator friendly plants, use honey from bees to prepare delicious snacks, and identify garden critters.

 

Little Farmers in the City-Summer Camp

June 13 - June 17, 9am - 1pm
4 years- Rising K’s

Experience the life of an urban farmer for the week!  Each day, we will explore the garden, taking care of the plants and animals.  We will also visit the farmer’s market and host our very own market on the last day of camp. 

 

Garden Hoedown-Summer Camp

June 20 - June 24, 9am - 3pm
Rising 1st – 2nd Grade
Members $150, Non-members $160

Let’s play, learn, and dance the days away on the farm this summer!  Help with daily chores like planting, harvesting, egg-collecting, and feeding chickens.  Play old time games, make tasty farm treats, and end the week with an old fashioned barn dance!

 

Fairy Tales-Summer Camp

July 18 - July 22, 9am - 1pm
4 years – Rising K’s
Members $100, Non-members $110

Come on a magical journey that will take us to Wonderland, Oz, Neverland, and The Enchanted Forest.  Story times, crafts, and games will revolve around classic stories and characters.  Watch us take to the stage for our own fairy tale performance on the final day.

 

Puppet Camp-Summer Camp

August 8 - August 12, 9am - 3pm
Rising 1st – 2nd Grade
Members $150, Non-members $160

Bring your imagination to life with puppets!  Explore methods of creating puppets using a variety of media.  We will make up our own characters as well as work together to tell familiar stories.  Our week culminates in a theatrical production you will not want to miss. 

 

Wild Wild West-Summer Camp

August 15 - August 19, 9am - 1pm
4 years-Rising K’s
Members $100, Non-members $110

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls! Trot on down to the GCM for a giddy-up good time! There will be rodeo games, country crafts, and campfire songs.  Join us on Friday for a special showcase.
