Step by Step

Step by Step: Health and Safety

The Greensboro Fire Department has expanded its public education efforts in the last five years to better serve the citizens of Greensboro. The Fire Department has employed a full-time clown (and we mean that in the nicest way) named Flame, who handles all elementary school education needs. Flame also has her sidekick, who accepts dog treats as payment. Ember, the dalmatian fire dog, does many tricks to help Flame teach children about fire safety.  Watch for Flame and Ember at GCM.

Safety Day at GCM

Saturday, June 7, 10 am-2pm

Join us for a super safety day filled with non-stop action.  Meet Engine 1 Fire Department, climb aboard their fire truck and enjoy demonstrations with their all of their gear and equipment!  Flame and Ember (clown and the amazing Dalmatian dog!) will put on a fire safety puppet show, Master Monty Hendrix will have classes on self defense and martial arts, make a child id card, visit the Babies R Us booth for essential safety tips and products for your house, learn train safety from Operation Safety, and much more!  Free with admission/membership.

Wear the helmet flat atop your head, not tilted back at an angle!

Make sure the helmet fits snugly and does not obstruct your field of vision. Make
sure the chin strap fits securely and that the buckle stays fastened.
