Busy Bees (Members Only)

Mondays, 9am-12noon

GCM's educational play program offers lots of fun things parents can do together with their children including music and movement, sensory story time, and awesome arts.  Offered on Mondays from 9am-12pm for Members only and includes different themes for each week. Best suited for pre-school aged children (ages 1-5) and their caregivers. Call Gabrielle at 574-2898x311 for details.    

Tuesday Night Groovin', Gardenin' and Grillin'

Tuesday nights, June 16, 23, 30, 4-8:00 pm

Starting June 16th, the Museum will be staying open late every Tuesday night to celebrate the summer!  We’ll have music including several concerts by Big Bang Boom and other local bands, garden fun and outdoor activities.  Families can bring their own picnic dinners to enjoy or food can be purchased.  Free with admission/membership.

Family Fun Friday Nights

Friday Nights, 5-8pm

$3.00 admission.

 

Special Events

The Wide World of Animals

Wed, June 1 & June 17, 10-11am

This exciting and fun program will focus on animals both here in NC and all over the world.  Come and see a ball python, guinea pigs, Russian Tortoises and more!  Bring your camera!  Presented by Bur Mil Park.

Ceramic Painting with MadPlatter

Friday, June 5 on Family Fun Friday Night, 5:30-7:30

In collaboration with MadPlatter please join us in Creation Station to paint ceramic butterflies and dragonflies.

Reserve your spot by June 1, call Beth Lynch at 336-574-2898 ext 305 , Cost $5 per piece, pay for your ceramic piece in Creation Station Friday night. (Program fees are in addition to admission.)

Running of Green 5K Race and Family Fun Run

Saturday, June 6, 8am start time, 7:15 check-in

Join the Greensboro Children's Museum at its first ever 5K Race, Family Fun Run and Kids Dash!  Sign the whole family up or form a team of friends and run, walk or push a stroller through the downtown and Fisher Park course.  The timed 5K race and fun run/walk will start and end at the Greensboro Children's Museum.  Cost to enter is $25 a person for the 5K Run and $5 per child for the Kids Dash. Color of Culture - Kid's Salsa and Latin American

Join GCM each Saturday as we celebrate the culture of the Latin community in our called the Culture of Color!  On this day, Vanessa Esquivel will teach children fun salsa steps and Spanish!

Simply Story Time

Join us for a special story time this Thursday we take kids away to far away lands, go on amazing adventures and meet lots of exciting characters in the world of make believe

Wheels, Wheels, Wheels

Saturday, June 13, all day

Safety inspections available free - bring your bikes!

Join us this day for a full day of fun as we celebrate all things with wheels!  We’ll have the East Coast Hot Wheels Club and their 50 foot racetrack here (race your own hot wheels car on the track or get one from the Hot Wheels Club), a Bike Safety Clinic in our backyard (bring your bike & helmet to get checked out), tire races, a Pit Crew Challenge, the ACC Car, art activities, and more! We will even have coupons from Paceline Bicycles in Greensboro for 20% off regularly priced bike helmets!  Activities free with admission/membership.

Brain Minders Puppet Show

Come meet Brain Minder Buddies, Gerald Giraffe, Penny Panda, and Martin Monkey as they explore how to “Play Safe and Play Smart”! Created by the Pilot International Club, this interactive puppet show will show you how to protect your brain! 

Culture of Color - Salsa Dancers

Saturday, June 13, 2pm

Join GCM each Saturday in June as we celebrate the culture of the Hispanic and Latino community in a new series called the Culture of Color!  On this day, there will be a Latin American Dance performance.

GCM Summer Camps Start!

Monday-Friday, June 15-19 & June 22-26, 8:30am-12:30pm or 1:30-5:30pm

Starting June 15th, the Museum will host a variety of fun enrichment summer camps each week for kids 4 years old through those going into third grade. Camps are a half day in the morning or afternoon but some camps can be combined to be a full day camp option.  See our website www.gcmuseum.com for specific camps by age, prices, and more details.  Spots are filling up fast!

World Refugee Day

Friday, June 19, 9am-1pm

Join GCM as we celebrate the cultures and courage of the journeys of refugees from around the world. There will be games, music, fashion, crafts, arts, story telling, demonstrations and foods to sample!  Activities free with admission/membership.

“Friends Around the World” Day

Sunday, June 21, all day

Join us the 3rd Sunday of each month as we welcome our friends from all around the world to the Museum for a day of fun and play!  We will enjoy a variety of multicultural activities, while making new friends from new places.

Family Bingo Night

Bring the whole family for a fun night of family BINGO Bonanza! We’ll provide the card, the markers, and lots of fun prizes. 

Fresh Market’s Pa“JAM”a Party

Saturday, June 27, 10am-12noon

The Fresh Market and GCM invite children to roll out of bed in their favorite pajamas and come to the museum for free jam sandwiches on Saturday, June 27th from 10:00a.m. to noon!  Volunteers from The Fresh Market will make sandwiches using the company’s new organic jams and will read aloud from two children’s books: The Giant Jam Sandwich by John Vernon Lord and Janet Burroway, and Bread & Jam for Frances by Russell Hoban. Then it’s off to “The Market” exhibit, where children will be invited to grocery “shop,” pushing kid-sized carts and selecting healthy foods from the stocked shelves.  The first 20 kids dressed in their pjs will receive free entry!  Regular admission fees apply to all other kids and accompanying adults.  Members are free.

Nat Greene Flyfishers

Sat, June 27, 11am-1pm

Join us for fly fishing demonstrations today.  Children can learn how to cast a fly fishing rod, attempt to tie a fly and view a fly fishing show. Free with admission/membership.

Great American Backyard Campout

Saturday, June 27, 6pm to 8am

Sign your family up today to participate in this nationwide event sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation! Campout will take place at Bur Mill Park and is open to the first 20 families who sign up!  Campers bring your own tent and supplies.  GCM will provide hot dogs, s’mores, songs, stories, crafts and fun.  Cost is $25 per family (up to 4 people).  $5 for each additional child.  Presented by BurMil Park and GCM!  This campout will be a perfect event for children who participate in the Museum’s summer camp Lightening Bugs & Lanterns the week before!
