Greensboro Children’s Museum summer camps are hands-on, educational, creative, exciting and FUN! Each week, our educators craft creative experiences focused on hands-on activities, imaginative adventures, and learning through play. GCM camp themes range from mastering basic culinary skills, arts and crafts, music, gardening, exploration, and play in both our indoor and outdoor spaces.

Plant the seeds of yoga to stimulate imagination, maintain flexibility, and develop conscious breathing. This week will combine yoga poses with rhythm, literacy, games, and mindfulness techniques as well as garden activities. This innovative new camp encourages social skills development, creativity, and wellness for all preschool-aged children. Through garden activities, artistic expression, mindfulness techniques, and other evidence-based instructional practices, the unique strengths of each child will be nurtured. Targeted social skills include communication, friendship skills, kindness, respect, and impulse control, and the week will culminate in a parent/child meditation session.

Chef Basics

This week we’ll work as a team to focus on mastering the culinary basics: growing the best ingredients and understanding flavor, texture, and technique. Iron Chef II

For our intermediate to advanced chefs, we’re stepping up the curriculum with an increased emphasis on cooking technique and utilizing seasonal produce from the garden. This week will build on previous kitchen experience and include advanced knife skills and techniques, lessons with guest chefs, and group challenges.  A final competition will be held on the last day with local chef judges. Previous cooking experience highly recommended.

Camp Cancellation Policy

A full refund will be given for camp purchases if the registration is cancelled prior to 14 calendar days of the start of the camp. Cancellations made within the 14 day time period will result in a refund of 50% of the original camp cost. Transfers of camp registrations adhere to this same rule.

Scholarship Information

The Greensboro Children’s Museum is extending a scholarship opportunity to partake in our 2017 summer camp season for those individuals who qualify. The 2017 Summer Camp Scholarship Form can be found here. Please complete the form in its entirety. The Greensboro Children’s Museum reserves the right to extend scholarships at their discretion. Scholarships are non-transferrable and not guaranteed.
