Connect with other parents and caregivers of young children (Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers) at the Greensboro Children’s Museum each week for a standing playdate!  Meet a Museum educator for a kick-off activity and then go exploring, playing, and learning in the Museum together.  GCM Playgroup meets every Thursday at 3:30pm from September through May.

Bricks 4 Kidz “Laws of Motion” Demo Class

Introduce kids to physics, including the “Laws of Motion” made famous by Sir Isaac Newton. By explaining terms like inertia and mass using simple words, Bricks 4 Kidz lessons give students a foundation for understanding concepts that they will delve deeper into in years to come. For now, they get to build fun stuff out of LEGO ® bricks and create a positive association that science is fun!  At Bricks 4 Kidz, we know how to keep their hands and their minds busy! – Who says physics is boring? Test out some of Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of motion!

Adult Cooking Class: Sugar Cookie Decorating

Learn the techniques for decorating gift-worthy sugar cookies this holiday season. Jen Garrison will teach you to make royal icing, offer tips for coloring your icing, and teach you how to flood and add detail to your cookies. Everyone will take home a small box of decorated cookies and recipes.

 

Teen Class: All About Pie

Get ready for the holidays and learn to make your very own pies. We'll start with a basic pie dough and a seasonal fruit filling, then experiment with decorating techniques. Each person will leave with an unbaked pie and instructions for baking at home.

This workshop will empower girls to make healthy lifestyle choices in a safe and non-competitive space.  During this two day workshop, participants will learn how to prepare healthy dishes in our hands-on kitchen classroom and explore the power of self-care techniques like meditation, reflection and journaling, and healthy hobbies. We’ll begin and end our day with yoga, led by Katie Page owner of Wren’s Nest.

No prior yoga or cooking experience required.  All necessary equipment will be provided.  Attire: comfortable clothing that allows stretching and a full range of motion.

Participants will leave the workshop with recipes, copies of yoga practices, and new tools for focusing, managing stress, and maintaining healthy relationships.

Baby & Me Yoga (5 Weeks - Waddlers)

This 45-minute class is designed for both baby and caregiver. We spend the first part of class stretching, breathing, and moving for you. The second part of class is singing and moving playfully with your baby yogi. This class has a wide age range (5 Weeks - Waddlers). 

Class fee includes 8 sessions with admission to the Greensboro Children’s Museum for the participant and one adult on class days.

From Michelangelo to Mondrian, we’ll familiarize ourselves with great works of art and try our hands at mimicking the masters. We will explore elements of art such as line, color, and texture. Come ready to learn and, of course, get a bit messy!
